About
John Hill
Founder and the person who builds every system here.
Why "guys"?
It's one person, plus the tools I build. The plural is the brand, not the headcount. When you send a message, I read it. When we get on a call, it's me. When something gets built, I build it.
Background
I'm based in Fishers, Indiana. For the past seven years I've been a senior developer at a fintech consultancy, building software for banks and credit unions: account opening and onboarding, payments, single sign-on, core-banking integrations, and the data pipelines behind them. Work where a mistake costs real money and "it mostly works" isn't an option.
Several of those systems were mine from the first commit through tests, documentation and production: an automation service for a core-banking platform, an account-opening app, a component library, the scaffolding other developers built on, and a document-extraction back office.
For the past two years I've worked agent-first. AI tools write, review and refactor code alongside me every day, an AI review gate sits in my CI, and I write documentation for agents as well as people. That is where the "practical AI" on the front page comes from. I use these systems to do my own work, so I know what they're good at and where they fall over.
Before software, I ran a strength-and-conditioning coaching business, which I started in 2018 and still own, and built the app its coaches and clients use. Before that, eleven years as a non-commissioned officer in the US Army. Both taught me the same thing: be the one responsible, say what you mean, and finish.
How I work
Practical over impressive.
The goal is a smaller pile of work on your desk, not a demo. If a plain script does the job, you get a plain script.
You own what I build.
The system, the source and the documentation are yours. It runs in your business, or I host it for you. Nothing is built so that you have to keep calling me.
Plain English, no hype.
I'll tell you when AI is the wrong fix. I'll tell you what it costs before anything is billed. And I'll explain what was built in words you can repeat to your team.
